205 Equity, Diversity, and Design
HTH 205 explored conceptions of equity and their implications for teaching, learning, and leading. I decided to explore implementing school wide structures to enhance student voice in teaching and learning. Student voice is critical for equity because formalizing and institutionalizing opportunities for student voice can increase levels of student belonging and engagement. To increase student voice I am working to subvert traditional instructional coaching roles by empowering representative groups of students to serve as student consultants. These student consultants will enter a partnership with cooperating teachers where the students observe classes and provide feedback to teachers about instruction particularly around increasing student agency.
